Here is a great one for acorn squash!. Cut the squash in half, lengthwise (so that the bottom of the cut half is not that pointy end)!. Scoop out the seeds and strings -- this is easiest done with a spoon as it is a little tough!. Put about 1/2 inch of water in a baking pan, then lay the squash in the pan, cut side down!. Bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour!. Check a few times to make sure there is water in the pan!. Remove the pan from the oven, remove squash from the pan, and drain the water from the pan!. Then put the squash back in the pan, cut side up!. Add about 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and 2 tablespoons of butter to each half!. You don't need to spread it around or mix it up!. Bake the squash at 350 for about 5 more minutes, til the butter and brown sugar have melted!. You'll have a little pool of this delicious sauce floating on each half of squash!. Just eat the squash and sauce right out of the squash itself!. If you are wanting something a little on the salty side, omit the brown sugar and add a little extra butter and a pinch of salt and whatever spice you like -- we like garlic and/or rosemary, and use dried spices!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Um-mm I love squash too! Yellow squash is easy if you just do salt/pepper with a little butter in a fry pan and fry!. Cut it to preferred slices!.
Do the same with Zucchini but Season with salt/Italian seasoning!.!.!.!.um-mm that one is yummy!.
Sometimes to be different on both squashes, I add a smudge of garlic powder just enough for flavor not over powering!. You want a hint for folks to want more not push away!.
Acorn squash, either bake covered with aluminum foil (keeps them moist) or nuke in the microwave, place butter in the center and when it comes out, place some brown sugar in the center mix with the melted butter, cut and serve without the rind!. Since these squash are not always great stand alone items for cooking you may need a smaller pan to keep them from moving around!.
These are simple old southern recipes handed down to me from my mother!. Very easy!!!!
The old stand by is steam the yellow and zucchini squash and serve with a little salt and pepper if you want to add butter you can then!. Otherwise just keep it healthy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
