Answers:
Yes, it's popular is some places, but keep in mind that many amateurs burn down their houses trying it!. This is best done outdoors, on a concrete (or grassy) surface with a fire extinguisher nearby!. The heat source is a propane tank underneath the 12-gallon stockpot - that turkey is done in a very short time!.

We have deep fried turkey's for the past 5 years!. At least 1-2 turkey's per holiday!. Most people don't fathom the concept but our families have gotten used to the idea and have tasted the results! My brother and his wife are due here in the US from EU over the holidays and they asked for fried turkey! We inject the bird with butter/spices and the taste is juicy and flavorful!. The cooking time minimal compared to cooking in the oven!.
I have to say the use of the leftover meat is minimal!. You can't make Turkey tettrazzini or salads because the taste of the meat is unique- and doesn't taste the same!. Just my thoughts!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, people do deep fry turkey, and I think it's good, but we don't serve it deep fried for our holiday dinners!. They make huge deep fryers for this purpose!. It takes 5 gallons of peanut oil to cook one, and it works better if the turkey is under 15-20 pounds!.

Yes, it is true, but it is not a good way to cook turkeys!. Too Greasy!!! Best is the old fashioned way: Roast it in an oven!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
It is not often done, and involves owning a specialized cooker, but there are those who prefer deep fried turkey over any other method of preparation!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
