I have a rice cooker and the manual that came with said that when the light switches off cook and onto warm you should still leave it for about 10 minutes to finish cooking!. It also said that it is best not to add salt or oil or any thing to the water although I put in a tablespoon of chicken stock one time, all it did was make the rice taste nicer!.
The measurements that came with the rice cooker for rice to water are -
2 cups raw rice - 3-3!.5 cups water
4 cups raw rice - 5-5!.5 cups water
6 cups raw rice - 7-7!.5 cups water
Good luck for next time you cook rice!. Hope I helped!.
P!.S!. Always use about a cup of extra water when cooking brown rice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Did you use the measuring cup that came with the rice cooker!? My rice cooker came with a cup that measures out 3/4 cups of rice, and the bowl has markings for the appropriate number of rice cooker cups of water to add!. So if you aren't using the cup this could be why the water evaporates before the rice is done cooking!. When this happens you can add a little more water and press cook again!. Repeat this until the rice is done if necessary!. Keep track of how much water you are adding so the next time you can add the correct amount of water!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I make rice everyday and put the rice in first with some oil until the light goes off!. I stir it every minute or so!.
It depends on the rice too!. I use Medium grain rice and two parts water!.
also if you make small batches you need more water because it will boil off before the rice cooks!. Mine takes about 20 minutes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
