Recipe:

1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 to 2/3 cups cold real butter (I don't know how much this in "sticks"; butter is not sold by the stick here)
1/4 cup ice water, about
1 tbsp sugar

Mix butter and flour in a bowl!. Break up the butter into pieces about the size of the last joint of a finger and drop into the flour; cut into the flour with a pastry knife or with two regular forks until the butter is in pieces no bigger than a large lentil or a small pea, and is well-mixed into the flour!. Add ice water tablespoon by tablespoon (or glug by glug) into the mixture, mixing with your hand just until you get a stiff but pliable dough!. Do not knead; do not overmix; do not work it and work it to get every gram of flour in!. Just until it becomes a dough!. Then put it in a covered bowl (the bowl you just used is fine) and set it in the fridge for an hour!.

Remove, divide in half, and roll each out on a very well-floured board or counter, making sure it doesn't stick anywhere!. Flour the top of the dough too so your rolling pin doesn't stick on it!.

This makes two bottom crusts or one bottom and one top crust!.

"What's the problem with store crusts!?" another commenter asked!. You mean other than they cost three times the price of a homemade crust, taste like the low-quality fat they're made from, and usually contain traces of highly allergenic nuts - in fact, enough to make a person with a serious allergy very sick!? Gosh, can't figure why anyone would want to avoid them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A good pie crust is more about technique than the recipe!. You can find a recipe anywhere!.
First you need to cut the shortening into the flour very thoroughly until the shortening pieces are pea-sized or smaller!. Use two knives crisscrossed if you don't have a pastry blender tool!. Next, use a shallow bowl of ice water!. Sprinkle one tablespoon at a time over the flour mixture and toss lightly (go ahead, use your hands) until the dough comes together in a ball!.
Now - this is critical - you don't want to overwork the dough rolling it out!. I use wax paper!. Wipe your counter top with a damp cloth and place a sheet of wax paper down so it sticks to the surface!. Then sprinkle flour on the paper before placing your dough on it!. Roll from center out to edges, turning after each stroke to make a circle one and a half inches larger than your pie plate!.
Flip the dough and paper into the plate and gently peel off the paper!. Ease the dough into the pie plate gently!. Fold under any excess crust and pinch around the edge to flute the crust!.

Fill and bake!.

I've never been able to make a very good crust!. But I have tried a lot of store bought ones!. My favorite!? Mrs!. Smith's deep dish shells!. They come two to a package and they're in the freezer section of the grocery store!.

If you still really want to make one from scratch, I'm quite sure you could find a good recipe at cooks!.com or bettycrocker!.com!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sasha, at this point in time, save yourself a lot of time and aggravation and just by a refrigerated or frozen crust!. Making pie crust is an art that takes practice!. As mentioned above, it's more a technique than a recipe!.
