How about trying it the Jamaican way!?

8ozs self-raising flour!.!.!.I would use plain but you might find this too firm

A large onion!.!.!.sliced
Glove of garlic!.!.!.Crushed
One tomato!.!.!.chopped
Small sweet pepper!.!.!.Chopped

Make dumplings by adding a little salt and enough water to make a stiff dough!. Kneed until firm!.

Start to fry mince
Throw in salt and pepper and the curry powder, keep stirring!.!.!.
Throw in the chopped tomato and sweet pepper with the sliced up onions!.!.!.Keeping turning the mince while it continues to fry with the added ingredients!.
When the minces is a nice brown colour, make up stock cube with just enough hot water to cover the mince in the pan!.
Cover and cook for about half an hour on a medium to low heat until just enough liquid is left to give you a nice gravy!. You can add Bisto to make a thicker gravy!.
You can add more water any time along the way if you think it's drying out too much!.
