Can you make bread pudding using wheat bread instead of white? Can you use all heels? ?!
How would you have to change the recipe to do this!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Yes, you can!. In fact, bread pudding was originally created to use leftover and stale bread, including crusts and "heels," and was made with whatever type of bread was on hand!. I have used both and they were both equally delicious!. I don't think you have to change the recipe, but when I made it with white, I added 1 extra teaspoon of cinnamon!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
You can make bread pudding out of any kind of bread!. I just made some last week using a mexican bread called Bolillo!. This is a medium size dense roll, you can find this is any mexican/latin grocery store or mexican/latin bakery!. I love this bread!! I promise you will love it!. To make a 9x13 baking dish you will need about 12-14 bolillos!. Cut the bolillo in cubes put it in a bowl and let it sit on your counter overnight or a day before you make the bread pudding!. Then when you are making the bread pudding let the wet mixture and bolillo sit for 30 minutes before putting it in the oven!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Sure, you can use any kind of bread!. Cinnamon raisin is my favorite! You can use all heels, but it won't be as soft as if you used some inside slices!. I like to use a combination of slices and heels!. You don't need to change the recipe!. Just be aware that the more dried out your bread is, the more liquid it'll absorb!.
