Why do my cookies bubble up and crisp?!

Question: Why do my cookies bubble up and crisp!?
I have been trying to make dog cookies (so I suppose it's more like bread than cookies)!.

The past few times I made them the recipe said roll the dough 1/2" thick before cutting!. In all my genius, I made it half that, or less, to make the dough stretch out!. I thought I'd just bake it for less time and have wafers I could break apart but!.!.!. they bubble up! They turn into these hallow balls of crisp, which isn't what I wanted!.

Is it because I'm making it too thin!? Would making the dough as thick as the recipe said work or should it be thicker!? (Online recipe's by the by, and I'd experiment but some of the ingredients I use are too expensive to mess up yet another batch!.)

Thanks in advance!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
what kind of fat are you using in these cookies!? sometimes substituting margarine or similar products in place of butter can make a difference!.

just a thought - and keep trying! sometimes better recipes are made by accident!

enjoy :)

Cookies tend to flatten out and become bubbly and crispy due to a high amount of sugar!.

if you reduce the amount of sugar in the recipe, the cookie will be thicker with a smaller area!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
