What are the little bowls called that hold spices when prepping a recipe? You always see chefs with them on tv?!

Question: What are the little bowls called that hold spices when prepping a recipe!? You always see chefs with them on tv!?
If you don't understand what I am saying here's an example!.

Whenever you see chefs cooking on TV, they have little bowls with all of their spices measured out perfectly in each bowl (3 TBS salt, 2 tsp cumin, etc, etc)!. I want those bowls for a christmas gift!.

Thanks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They are called "ramekins" Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ramekins are used for baking souffles and custards!. You can also use them for putting other things in, obviously, but they aren't bowls!.

I use Pyrex bowls I got at Wal-Mart or Target (can't remember which!.) They are big enough to also use for serving sauces!.

Any small bowls that are attractive will be suitable!. I would go for see-through ones- that makes it easier when you are cooking!. Shop around at Crate and Barrel or the like!.

also, if you just buy some small bowls instead of a set that is marketed as a 'chef's set of bowls' or something you will probably pay less!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I always called them finger bowls!.!.
you see them in asian restaurants serving the little sushi sauces in also!.!.
I live in the middle east!.!.
we sometimes place them on tables with water in them, so people (who eat with their fingers, common here in Arab countries) can wash their fingers a bit!.!.
also we use them to toss in the date fruit stones(seeds)!.!. we eat loads of dates and you just dont want to toss the seeds on the table, so its polite to place them in these little bowls!.!.

anyways!.!. Ive always called them finger bowls!.!.
we have them in all our houseware stores!.!. they are a commonly sold item here in the middle east!.!.!.

look in an asian or ethnic middle eastern store!.!.!.

ramekins are larger to me!.!. more of something the size of a cup!.!. (I bake custards in ramekins)!.!. but these bowls, finger bowls!.!. are flat, only set up about an inch in height!.!. and probably only hold an ounce or two!.!. thats what I call finger bowls!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
