What can I use as a topping instead of cheese?!
I am making a dish where I would normally be melting cheese on top of a fritatta!. I am however making the dish for a vegan, and obviously cannot eat cheese!.
Does anyone have an idea of anything I could replace the cheese with!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

you could use vegan 'cheese!.' it's make from vegetable products!. or, you could just go without and top with a vegetable or tomato sauce!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
they make vegatarian cheese, check em out in the produce section, don't know how well they melt or if they fit in with a vegan diet!.!.!.
You can try maybe a crumb topping like bread crumb butter mixture, it would get golden and crunchy, would be yummy with a creamy casseroleWww@FoodAQ@Com

There are vegan cheeses that you can buy, but most of them don't taste very good and the texture is odd!. Try making some nooch sauce!. This: http://vegweb!.com/index!.php!?topic=7057!.0 is the recipe I usually use, but I use just a little less salt!. The longer you cook it, the thicker it will get (obviously), and if you make it really thick, it will be more like a spread once it cools, but it'll still be like melted cheese once you heat it up again!.
You could also grind or chop up some pine nuts & mix with some herbs/seasonings!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm lactose intolerant, and buy shredded soy "cheese" - which has no dairy in it!. You can get it (and other soy "cheese") where they sell tofu in the grocery store!. At Kroger and Walmart, it's in the refrigerated section of the produce department!.!.!.!.!.!. It melts just fine, and tastes like other cheese (well, like processed cheese:)Www@FoodAQ@Com
I would use a tomato sauce!. Packaged Hollandaise sauce contains dried egg in it so that isn't an option for a vegan!. The suggestion of vegan cheese is a good one as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Consider finely ground Pecans, finely ground Almonds!. Not a heavy layer but sprinkle them on top!. We are a lactose intolerant family and look for new ideas too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Did you ask the vegan what he/she would like instead of cheese!? Since he/she eats that way all the time, they might have some insight or preferences!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
The only vegan "cheese" I know of that melts is the Follow Your Heart: Vegan Gourmet brands!. It's really good and tastes a lot like real cheese!. It can even be found at regular grocery stores!Www@FoodAQ@Com
nothing actually!.!.!.!.make a hollandaise sauce with it!.!.!.!.YUMMY
