Question: Where in the US (I'm in VA) can I find/have a goose shipped to roast for Christmas!?
I'm hoping someone here has some website suggestions!. It's going to be hard to find a fresh goose of course so I'm not too picky about frozen but would like good quality!. Thanks in advance!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can purchase geese at Whole Foods stores!. You will probably need to call a few days ahead to order!. You can find Whole Foods in Alexandria, Arlington, Charlottesville, Fairfax, Falls Church, Glen Allen, Reston, Springfield, and Vienna!.

I would also check with your local butcher, they can probably order anything you want given a few days notice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I lived in VA for many years and there are plenty of geese available for Christmas dinner (can I come!?)!. Call you local agricultural office (usually a county office) and ask for farmers who raise geese in your area!. Then, contact one of them!. They'll kill and dress your goose for you, and you can't get any fresher goose than that!!!!! You might have to pay a few pennies more, but you're gaining two things: a great goose and a new relationship with a great food supplier!

I think Stine's response regarding whole food stores is a good one!. that is a great place to start!.

I really liked your response to Lirpa's answer!.
I really don't like it when some people get on their soap box and shove their belief systems down other people's throats either!.

I've been a vegetarian for over 15 yrs!. for personal reasons and gladly prepare meat dishes including Turkey for traditional holiday dinners at my house for loved ones who chose to eat meat!.

Hope Lirpa reads your answer and learns from it!

I got kicked off YA for saying "Beef its whats for Dinner" to a vegetarian SO I reported her I am glad that you responded in kind!. With a comment!.!.!.!.!.
Just because it is not for them< NON MEAT eaters, vegans , vegetarians, I don't know why they have to project that in there answers!. Especially when it is not ask for
I have NO problem with it Just don't try to force it on me!.
Ok enough , Shirin S YOUR SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would think that you could get an excellent quality Goose from a local Market!. Such as a butcher shop OR Take a peek at the links I found for you and I really hope that you enjoy your christmas meal

I am curious as to how this bird will be prepared as I made one a few years (About 6-7back) and NO ONE would eat it My husband said that it tasted like chicken gizzards and had the texture of rubber bands!. I have been cooking and baking in excess of 25 years and people usually rave about my meals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

why would you eat a murdered animal on Christmas!? why should you be selfish and make another animal die just to feed you and your family for one meal when you can have other things to eat!? That's selfish in my opinion!. But then again, I don't fancy munching on dead rotting corpses!. and I bet that goose would have liked to live just as you do!.

anyhow, just do a google search and u can find where they can ship you a poor dead goose!. your best bet is probably to go to a butchers though!.

Edit, I apologize for being childish and pushing this down your throat!. I just do not understand why some people think another creature should be murdered just for their tummy when they can eat other things!.!.!.

I again I apologize for my not understanding unnecessary murder!. Enjoy your meat meal anyhow!.

and merry christmas when it comes, and I wish a quick painless death to the goose who will get slaughtered!.
