Answers:
Beginner !?!?!?!.!.!. start with a no cook powder sugar recipe!.
In a bowl, cream:
4 T butter or margarine

ADD and continue creaming until well mixed!.:
2 C powdered sugar

ADD
2 T milk
few drops Vanilla Extract (better than immitation vanilla)
or any other flavoring *** (see below)

ADD liquids until the consistency that will spread easily and not tear up the cake, thick enough to be better than a glaze!. If it is too thin!? add a bit more powder sugar!. If it is too thick, a bit of milk!. Don't add to much of either because it is easier to add more than remove

****VARIATIONS

Chocolate Icing
ADD
2 sq!. milted chocolate
OR
3 T cocoa

Orange Icing
Omit milk and use
2 T fruit juice

OR You can use a Mint flavoring instead of vanilla!. With a tad bit of green food coloring for Grasshopper icing!.

Use your imagination!. because the white powdered sugar is a good base icing!.

You can substitute cocoa!. 2 tablespoons cocoa + 1 tablespoon shortening, butter or vegetable oil for every ounce of unsweetned chocolate!.

Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

3 cups powdered sugar
? cup stick margarine or butter, softened*
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate, melted and cooled
2 tablespoons milk (2 to 3 tablespoon)

Mix all ingredients except milk in medium bowl!. Stir in milk until smooth
and spreadable!. Frosts one 13 ? 9-inch cake generously or fills and frosts
one 8- or 9-inch two-layer cake!.
