Help me with a potluck dessert conundrum!?!
I have to make dessert for a potluck!. It is 6 ladies, one of whom hates anything remotely healthy, and one who is a vegetarian!. Normally this would not be an issue, but my landlord has not come to fix my oven - which heats up, but erratically (burns damn near everything)!.
If you were me, what would you make!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are lots of healthy deserts that dont seem so healthy!.
If the oven is out try my personal fav' desert, which is 100% on the stove!. I like to do apples sauteed in butter, throw in cinnamon nutmeg sugar and brandy (or rum) which you can light on fire for a flashy show!. Its great for a flashy presentation!. You can serve on top of french toast, biscuits, or a puff pastries crust form the bakery if the oven is still down!. Sorry no recipe, but you will have plenty of chances to add ingredients if you need more (you cant take away though, so be careful)!. Finish with a splash of confectioners sugar, maybe some fresh whip cream!. Apples are in season, so this is a great one
You can try this (below link) if the oven goes out, you can still get away with doing it on the stove like pan corn bread!. You can do this with apples, pears and peaches as well, and give your guests the option of adding fat with whipped cream on the side!.

You could make this fruit salad!. The recipe is from my grandmother and at least 4 generations have enjoyed this and make it often!. You can make the dressing up to a week ahead!. You can also drain and cut the canned fruits and grapes to have them prepped in advance!. Then shortly before the affair, slice in the bananas and toss in the dressing and pour/scoop into a serving dish!.
FRUIT SALAD DRESSING
1 egg - well beaten
1/2 cup sugar
2 T!. corn starch
2 T!. lemon juice
juice from 1 large (20 oz!.) can pineapple chunks
Combine and cook together above ingredients!.
When cool, add 1/2 pint whipping cream - whipped (or 2 cups Cool Whip) and 1/4 # mini marshmallows (2 1/2 cups)!.
For salad, use pineapple chunks, sliced bananas, fresh red grapes, peaches or apricots, and pears!. Drain fruit well!. Mix with salad dressing!. Add some chopped nuts when ready to serve!. (If you add the nuts early, they turn the fruits dark!.) Top each serving with a maraschino cherry or stir some in!.
You may want to omit the nuts if it's going to be more than a few hours between making this dish and serving!.

You layer each ingreient until you have filled the glass!. As i explained it really is potluck!!.!.theres a new flavour with every mouthfull!. Make Dirt!. It's the dessert with oreo cookies, Philadelphia cream cheese, instant vanilla pudding, and cool whip (and butter and confectioner's sugar if you choose)!. Crush up the cookies (2 normal-sized packs) in a food processor!. Or if you don't have one of those, do it the way I do sometimes (which is tougher but not that tough), which is used to gallons-sized freezer bags, one inside the other, add a bunch of cookies but leave some room, seal it, and roll over it with a rolling pin!. You'll have to take the end of the roller and smash some that way!. Dump in bowl and do again until all the cookies are smashed up!. The pieces are coarser than doing it the other way, but still good this way!. But if you have a processor, use it!. Then do as says in the linked recipe:

you can leave out the butter and confectioner's sugar and it will still be great!.
I haven't met anyone yet that doesn't love this!. You really can't mess this up (unless you don't mix the cream cheese well into the other stuff, or it will be clumpy!.!.!.but oddly still just as tasty!.!.!.just not "right")!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

How about an ice cream bar!. Ice cream with lots of toppings to choose from!? or, go to your bakery, and get some incredibly decedent donuts, or a fancy cake!. Another suggestion is a fruit salad, with or without a creamy dressing for fruits!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Make a cheesecake - you don't have to bake it then and as long as your friend is a vegetarian and not a vegan you will be fine - just don't use gelatine in it as this is often not vegetarian!.
