Answers:
I prefer frying them in a grape seed oil but a nice olive oil works well too!. Might add unsalted butter too!.

Sometimes I will lightly marinate them in a alcohol!. Options are grand!. You can use a sweet fruity wine or jump to Southern Comfort or Uncle Jack (Daniels) if you want a kick!.

It will not take long to cook and the biggest mistake is not having the oil at the right temp before placing them in!.!.!.

Served with a bed of rice, your favorite will be just fine!.I like the pilaf!.!.!.

Uhm, you can make a seafood (basil sauces or cream sauce) spaghetti and use the squid, or make (seafood) paella, or basically seafood "anything"!.

Or you can use this recipe for a nice calamari:

serves 10

3 cups vegetable oil
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
12 squid, cleaned and sliced into rings
1 lemon - cut into wedges, for garnish

Preheat oil in a heavy, deep frying pan or pot!. Oil should be heated to 365 degrees F (180 degrees C)!.
In a medium size mixing bowl mix together flour, salt, oregano and black pepper!. Dredge squid through flour and spice mixture!.
Place squid in oil for 2 to 3 minutes or until light brown!. Beware of overcooking, squid will be tough if overcooked!. Dry squid on paper towels!. Serve with wedges of lemon!.

It is best to me to fry for its rubber sort of cooked!. A saute' way will have to be just right!. When I fry a shell fish I put Jack daniels in my batter and freeze a little to hold its shape first!. Jack Daniels to a spice batter gives a kick as well as flavor it might really be a hit for you!. Squid has no real flavor so its what you do with it!. Oh I use the Italian bread crumbs, eggs and some seasonings of a chiptole and Jack!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
