It's really a question of trial and error!. Saffron and garlic almost always work nicely though; you could also try various forms of chile pepper like paprika or cayenne!. Cooking it in stock is nice too -- we've used chicken broth in my house for years and years!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
I have been eating rice all my life and I have traveled all over the world so I have had many types of rice!. It may sound weird but in my opinion nothing is better than "bats head rice"!. They serve it in Sidney and it is like a bite of heaven, served as fresh kill tartar with a crab apple in its mouth!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
That depends on what kind of food you are serving with the rice!.
Mexican!? Use garlic and chili powder!.
French!? Try fresh parsley and tarragon!.
Italian!? Parmesan cheese basil and a dash of oregano!.
Rice is bland and you can't really go wrong with spices!.
I like to use ground coriander and lemon zest with a sprinkle of fresh parsley to use with roast chicken!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

search a few recepie books and see what combinations they use, try them to get used to the taste then when you feel confident try adapting with less common spices and see the results, its quite fulfilling when you get something different and peeps love it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Did somebody say herd, mon!? lol Just kidding unless you are into that kind of thing!.
I use turmeric and/or paprika as rice colorants in my rice cooker!. I also use salt!. I'm sure the different powders of hot pepers, like chili or cayenne, could work well too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
