How long do maraschino cherries last after the jar has been opened and stored in the refrigerator?!
Answers:
Probably forever, but I would go by the expiration date on the jar!.
When I was growing up we grew several kinds of cherries!. When we picked them if they were not no!. 1 grade for the fresh market they went to a plant in Salem Or as 'briners' - they were pickled with salt and then submerged in the syrup to become maraschino cherries!. So that is the story on maraschinos and why they would probably last a very long time past the expiration date!.
You know though when you place foreign bodies in any condiment though - it is not wise to keep them!. So you always need to use a clean utensil to get them out of the jar - whether it be a cherry or a pickle!. :) Www@FoodAQ@Com

Go by the expiration date!. At Christmas I drain the juice off of marachino cherries and fill the bottle with Everclear grain alcohol!. I give these for gifts in pretty jars and they keep forever!. They will give you quite a buzz so be careful with them, and remind people not to let the kids get to them!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
becca,
Probably forever, being that there a lot like margerine!! One molecule from being "PLASTIC!!" I wouldn't worry to much about them or if you buy margerine either of them going bad EVER!!! Oh, I take that back, margerine does get mold eventually if not used!. It has been proven however that margerine is one molecule from being plastic!! Kid you NOT!!! The red dye in them is what I would worry about being that they cause cancer in lab rats!! Good Luck to you! I dont eat either myself!!! Smile!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

In my house, exactly as long as it takes to shove them all in my mouth!
Seriously, there should be a date on the jar, somewhere - check the label, the lid and for small printed dates!.
If you think they're bad, send them to me and I'll test them out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They would probably last forever as long as they're submerged in that sugary liquid!. Sugar is a good food preserver!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Most of them have enough preservatives to make them practically immortal!.
