Hi Mia, the cubed beef is that just a budgetary thing!? He may need a change, maybe your sauces need an up kick!. You can always buy tender meat that are also within your budget cut them into strips and do lets say a stir fry, yes with carrots, celery, broccoli fleurette's and all those yucky things kids hate, but add the soy, the fish sauce, the oyster sauce, get him to help you do it, get him to taste the sauce as its in the wok sizzling away!. Now I mentioned the fish sauce, don't add salt the fish sauce I use is salty enough, a pinch of freshly ground black pepper is fine, throw in some toasted cashews for the fun of it, let him taste one!. Keep saying I have a mean stew he is sure to like, with beer in it, drop me a line if your interested Mia!.
Let me know how you fair!.
