Recently my husband and I were so strapped for cash we had the same question!. so here goes this is what I did!.!.!.!.
1) I made home made bread, 700g bread flour (42p) Asda
2) 250ml warm water(whoopsies at asda (20p)
3)250ml warm water (free)
4)Tea spoon marg (smart price 26p)
5) Teaspoon salt (smart price 30p)
6) Tablespoon syrup (smart price 72p, big jar!) (let them lick the spoon, afterwards)
7)teaspoon yeast(50p Asda) 10 sachets

Mix altogether in mixer, Grease a dish and leave dough to sit for 1 hr covered by a teatowel, on top of the fridge(not inside),
Punch air down for 1 min then split in two put in Any oven dish (greased) leave for another 2 hrs, dust top with flour then bake for 45 mins, (turning dish around half way through!.)
My children love it toasted with a thin scraping of syrup on top for breakfast!.Baking also heats up the house so you can leave the heating off a while longer! And all the ingredients will last ages I get 4 loaves per bag of flour!.

3)120g plain flour(38p smart price)
Put icing sugar and marg into a bowl, mix to a paste with fork, gradually add sieved flour, mixing with fork!.
Put some foil on baking sheet(30p, smart price) and spead mixture as flat as possible not too thick, bake for for 8-10 mins( untill golden)
Whilst warm take out and mark with a knife into sections, and sprinkle with a bit more icing sugar!.
