As an advertising major - as stuffy as it seems- some sort food (they kind or type you are highlighting) or the food utensils used in the particular foods preparation!.and a "hint" of the food HAS to be on the cover!. photo is not necessary - but some sort of image - I have never seen an all type cookbook cover for example!.

1st rule of advertising - if you cant "get it" in 3 seconds - you lost it!.

If you went the 'arty' road, im sorry - made that mistake too many times!. I feel your pain!.

I would certainly say food, though it doesn't have to be a realistic image, it could be a drawing of someone serving food, or a picture or something of the authors if they are well known!. Come to think of it, if it was food of a certain area or restaurant there wouldn't have to be food, just an image of the town and the title, or a picture of a restaurant logo and the words cookbook or recipes clearly on there!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Appetizing to look at!.

A good arrangement of food photos of the star recipes in the book!.

A sidebar short list of what is inside book!.

A catchy title that captures interest!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
