Does anyone know how to prepare chestnuts?!

Question: Does anyone know how to prepare chestnuts!?
A co-worker of my husbands gave him about a gallon of chestnuts from his tree!. He told my husband that I should boil them in case they have worms!. If I do that now, what do I do with them afterward!? I don't want to use them now, I would prefer to use them closer to the holidays!.

Does anyone have any suggestions!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
ihave never boiled chestnuts

i prick them with a knife and put them under the grill or oven for about 20-25 minutes

then after they have been peeled i put salt on them!. when they are cooked try to eat them straight away

before cooking they keep for about a week so dont worry about using them straight away!. also after they are cooked and u peel them you will know if they are bad so dont worry about wormsWww@FoodAQ@Com

cut an X through the skin on top of each one- place on cookie sheet-bake @ 350 until the skin @ the cuts roll back -YUMWww@FoodAQ@Com
