Here's a nice, easy crock pot method for you!.

Caramel apple recipe for the crockpot or slow cooker!.
Ingredients:
?2 packages (14oz each) caramels
?1/4 cup water
?8 medium apples, such as McIntosh, Gala, or Fuji
?sticks for apples
Preparation:
In slow cooker, combine caramels and water!. Cover and cook on high for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until caramels are melted, stirring frequently!.
Meanwhile, line a baking pan with wax paper; butter the paper!.

Wash and dry the apples!. Insert a stick into stem end of each apple!. Reduce crockpot heat to LOW!.

Note: If the caramel does happen to scorch, put it through a mesh strainer and discard any dark particles!. Put the sauce into a saucepan or back into the cleaned slow cooker and keep warm while you dip the apples!.

Dip apple into hot caramel; turn to coat entire surface!. Holding apple above pot, scrape off excess accumulation of caramel from bottom apple!.
Place coated apples on prepared wax paper in pan!. As you near the bottom of the pot, use a spoon to spoon hot caramel over apples!. Put the pan of coated apples in the refrigerator to set thoroughly!. Use caution if children are helping; the crockpot will probably be quite hot to the touch and the caramel could scald!.

You can get sheets of caramel at some stores around the produce section and you just stick the stick in the apple and put the sheet of caramel over the apple and press it over the apple, press nuts in if you wish!. You can also just buy the little caramels in the bag at the store and melt them in the microwave, make sure you stir them regularly so they do not burn, you can also do this on your stove top in a double boiler or a pan of water with a ceramic bowl in it!. Then just put the stick in the apple and dip it in or spoon the melted caramel over it immediately roll in nuts

I prefer to boil a can of sweetened condensed milk (in the can) in a pan of boiling water for two hours, let cool a little, open up CAREFULLY and dip my apple wedges in!. You can also buy this at the market already done in the Latino section Lechera Dulce De Leche by Nestle

Sorry, didn't see the condition you have before I posted!. Maybe have your husband pick it up on his way home or on his lunch break!. I just had twins!. It killed me the last month to go to the store and get more than two items!. Husband had to do all the grocery shopping!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you want to make 'candy' then you need a THERMOMETER!.!. and the candy doesn't really CARE what YOU want or if YOU are pregnant!.!.!. you STILL NEED A THERMOMETER and I can't imagine you can't BUY one at your local HARDWARE STORE!.!.!. they are only a couple of dollars!.!. and the you can do it RIGHT instead of the way you want to do it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
