Baking with expired eggs?!

Question: Baking with expired eggs!?
I was baking a cake for a co-worker!. The recipe called for 3 eggs!. I cracked 2 eggs from a carton & saw a date of Aug 7, 2008!. I'm not sure if this is the packaged date or expiration date!. Anyways I grabbed a spoon & was able to scoop out the yoke of the 2 expired eggs, but not able to get all the egg white!. I then added 3 non expired eggs!. Do you think the cake is okay to eat & share with my co workers!. The cake was cooked for about 30 minutes in 350 degree over!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
you were smart to scoop them out!. Even if you didn't get it all, the baking should kill any bacteria!. I would serve it and not tell anyoneWww@FoodAQ@Com

You'll be fine!. You would soon have known if the eggs were off!. When you cracked the shells they would have smelt off but if they didn't, you would be quite safe!. A good way to test an egg is to put it in a large bowl of water!. If it sinks, it is fine!. If it floats - throw it out!. It means that the inside has begun to ferment and create smelly egg gas which makes the egg rise to the top of the water!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Its probably fine, depends on the origin of the eggs!. Keep it to yourself and don't tell a soul, even when your coworkers get sick!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you'll be fine I made omlets with expired eggs before and nothing happenedWww@FoodAQ@Com

No!. I dont think it will make them sick but the cake will taste to dry if the eggs are spoiled~Www@FoodAQ@Com
