I just made sugar cookies with my 2 yr old!. It was a lot of fun, I got the recipe from food network!.com and it was really really good!. I let her help me measure and pour!. pre schoolers aren't much into gourmet recipe explosion yet!. but you can ignite the food to make it interesting with the following ideas:
cauliflower - cut into tiny pieces and coat with flour paste and fry
peanuts- a samba of salt and sugar
gelatin - a window cathedral or kaleidoscopic design in colors
filipino pancit (sauteed noodles) - topped with crushed pork chicharones
fried spinach leaves
thick corn soup with crab meat or chicken
guava and pineapple juice - no soda
leche flan or caramel drizzled custard
fried eggrolls (involtini primavera)
fried eggrolls meat (lumpia shanghai)
choco chips, raisins and nuts cookies
beef jerky
spaghetti ragu
3 icecream falvors scoops over grilled fresh fruits
cheese cup cakes
sans rival or sylvannas

Ha, how funny!. I taught pre-k for 6 years and cooked with my classroom every friday!. Now I am a chef of a restaurant!.
Kids can do more than you think!.!.!.
They are amazing at making gnochi, its perfect for them, a lot like playdough!.
I really did everything though, you can give them little plastic knives and have them "chop" up different ingredients and then assemble the recipe saying their names as you stir it in!.
The parents were always amazed at what I got them to eat by involving tham in the process!. By the end of the year they could all tell the diffence between parsley, cilantro and basil!. It was great!.
I would even have moms come into the class from different ethnic backgrounds and teach us special family recipes!.
One mom came in and we all learned how to make sushi!!
It was amazing!.

How about Ants on a Log, Celery stalks filled with peanut butter and a few raisins on top!.

Peanut Butter and jelly Sandwiches

Smores (A chocolate bar topped with a marshmallow on a graham cracker!. Pop into a 350* oven for about 5 minutes or until the marshmallow melts and the chocolate softens!. Remove from the oven and smush another graham cracker on top!.

Popcorn, plain and with a caramel glaze!.

Hot dogs!.

a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is kid friendly and yummy!!.!.!.and messy haha :)

Ingredients:
3 slices bread
2 tablespoons jam or jelly
2 tablespoons peanut butter

Toast 1 bread slice, allow to cool!. Spread one side of each of the two remaining two slices with jam or jelly!. Spread both sides of the toasted slice with peanut butter!. Form a sandwich with the toasted slice in the center!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you want to make a recipe that they can help with, you can make fruit smoothies!. Here is what you do!.!.!.!.have 1 cup plain or vanilla yogurt, add in any time of fruit about a 1 cup, a little sugar for flavor, and ice 1 cup or so!. This is based on per child!. i think pizza will be good and easy!. prepare the dough your self and get the children to cut up salami, sausages ,tomatoes ,mushrooms, capsicum!.the children will have fun throwing in the stuff they cut up!. they can top it with sauce and cheese!. have funWww@FoodAQ@Com

How about decorating biscuits!? Have lots of things ready like sultanas, carrot sticks, grated cheese etc and show them how to make faces on round biscuits!. Use butter to stick them on maybe!? Another idea is fruit kebabs but be careful with kids and sharp sticks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches ? Have them use cookie cutters to make different shapes of sandwiches ? You could even have them use some food coloring to color their sandwiches? It would be fun to see them participating and its safe too!. ?Www@FoodAQ@Com

What about mashed potatoes!? it's easy to make and kids love it and they can help with mashing it!.!. or stuff like that!.!. maybe mixing in the butter!.!.!.
