Can I omit the salt if I use salted butter?!
I am making a cookie recipe that calls for 2 cups unsalted butter!. I only have salted butter and don't have time to get "unsalted"!. The recipe also calls for 1/4 t!. salt!. If I use the salted butter and omit the 1/4 t!. of salt, will it taste ok!? Or should I still add just a tiny bit of salt (less the 1/4 t!.)!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I find if it calls for unsalted butter and you use salted you can usually reduce the salt in the recipe by about 1/4 tsp for every half cup of salted butter!.
The other thing is - TASTE IT - taste your cookie dough - if it tastes flat add a bit of salt and mix in!.
Leaving out salt is like leaving out vanilla!.
It is such a waste to make a batch of cookies and have them be totally bland with no salt at all when kids actually need a bit of salt!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

No
unsalted butter has less milk solids that regular butter so you have another problem to consider!.
if you use the regular butter the recipe wil probably be to salty and might not work!.
the salt that is being added to the dry ingredients has another purpose in the recipe and the salt from the salted butter will not react the same way!.
Salt provides flavour to the cookies but also helps to control how the cookies form!. Salt controls how the cookies rise when baked!.
This is a gamble that might work might not!. With the cost of ingredients used to make cookies your best bet is to purchase the unsalted butter!.

Yes you can omit the salt - salted butter will have more than the 1/4tsp your recipe asks for; but this isn't to say that you should increase the sugar in the recipe!. It will taste just fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
You should be fine omitting it!. It is not a necessary ingredient and if you're watching your salt intake you won't miss it!.
Me!? LOL, I like the salt, I bake with salted butter and still add it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
