My own recipe in my own words:
http://bp1!.blogger!.com/__3yg0XyHpCI/RhDr!.!.!.
2 pounds beef stew meat
1/2 cup seasoned flour
2 tablespoons oil
1 lg chopped onion
1/4 cup sliced celery
4 large red potatoes, cut in eighths
5 large carrots, cut in 2-inch slices
salt and pepper to taste
a few cloves of garlic diced(not smashed)
bay leaf
salt/pepper
1 teaspoon each garlic powder & onion powder (or pouch lipton dry onion soup powder!.)
1 beef boullon cube
water
1 can Campbells condensed tomato soup
Coat the meat with the flour, brown it in oil in a dutch oven(good thick heavy pot with lid) on med till browned!. Add onion & cook a few minutes!. Drain the extra oil!.
Pour the broth in add the boullon cube, add potatoes, carrots, garlic, turnip and celery!. Add enough water to barely cover the stuff!. Add salt/pepper, bay leaf, sprinkle garlic powder & onion powder or onion soup mix, stir !.!.taste, and adjust!. Add tomato soup!. Bring to a boil, taste it and adjust the salt/pepper etc!. Reduce to low, cover and let cook about 1 1/2 hrs or till the meat is tender and veggies are done!.!. Check the flavor every 30 min!. add salt pepper etc!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

For an easy stew by any CHEAP cut of meat ( lamb or beef is best) cut into cubes and add to stock pan, cut up your chosen veg into same sized cubes and add to pan, put in vegetable stock (lamb) or Bisto powder (beef) season with salt and pepper, then either add water or a strong dark ale ( I think Black sheep works well and I don't add any water) until contents are covered, Bring to a slight boil then reduce heat and cover, simmer until meat is tender!. (If you're not 18 get an adult to buy and add the black sheep ale the cooking pocess evaporates the alcahol so when the stew is ready there will be no alcahol in it just the flavour!. for the dumplins use 2 parts suet to 1 part self raising flour and add teaspoons of water until it's a dough e!.g!. 100g suet 50g flour 4 to 5 teaspoons of water, add to the stew for the las 15 minutes of cooking!. ENJOY!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

By your descripton of "Good easy Stew", I can't help but wondor why you don't consider buying the canned kind from the store!?

"Dinty Moore" makes a great stew that you can't go wrong with! Can't get any easier than that!

Just a suggestion, another great camping meal is chili-mac!. Just buy a good canned kind of chili, and add it to your favorite brand of mac n cheese!. Shouldn't be any problem on a gas stove!.!.!. warm and hearty!

Buy potatoes, carrots, squash, beef, cut them up and put them in boiling water with a bullion cube!.

also, have you make foil dinners!? They are awesome and soooo good!. You put ground beef, potatoe, pepper, onions, carrots, and mushrooms in foil, wrap it up, and cook it right on the fire!. Its awesome!.

Good luck!.
