Answers:
In baking cakes & cookies & other sweets you would not want to use olive oil!. It adds a distinct flavor!. I would use corn oil or other vegetable oil!. Apple sauce will work great in cake recipes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A good substitute for canola oil is sunflower oil as it has a very neutral flavour!. However, corn oils such as Mazola will work just as well!.

Firstly, genetic modification does nothing except make organisms more productive, and more environmentally friendly!. It enables grains to better utilize poor soil conditions without addition of expensive and environmentally detrimental fertilizers, and makes them diseases and pest resistant which reduces use of pesticides and herbicides!. But, if you're really that against using genetically modified materials!.!.!. good luck as just about every crop produced in the developed world comes from a genetically modified stock - wheat, barley, corn!. They've even developed a line of pigs that are healthier at a lower body fat percentage and have a reduced production of nitrates, which reduces pollution that comes from many animal farms!.

While its true that canola comes from rape seed (which is actually just another name for canola - they changed the name because of the negative connotations of the word "rape"), it is unfit for human consumption as it is because of its high oil content which is what makes it so suited to making canola oil!. That, and it doesn't taste very good!. Its not that the canola itself is bad for you, or that humans are not able to eat it!. You could if you wanted but all the oils in the grain would probably mess with your digestive system, just like it would if you drank any kind of vegetable oil straight!. If you use corn oil, most of the corn that goes to that oil is also considered unsuited for human consumption and is only slightly above animal-feed grade corn!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Every reliable health magazine I've ever read lists canola oil as one of the healthiest oils to use since it's monounsaturated!. It has been known to actually lower LDL levels!. I'm not sure where you're getting your information, but I think you may have misunderstood something!.!.!.

Anyhoo!.!.!.I would go with safflower if you have issues with canola!.
