Hi, when boiling a bacon hock,?!
do I throw out the first water, and boil it again, or is it OK as it is!? I'm going to be boiling dried beans in the water afterwards!. Thanks in advanceWww@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Do your dried beans FIRST!.
Any salt will make the beans harder to get done!.
Boil the beans first, then through out that water!.
Then bring the beans to a hard simmer until they are done!.
Then add your ham hock (bacon hock), onion, garlic, and add salt to taste!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I refrigerate the stock (or at least put a good chill on it) in the pot I cooked in so that any fat rises to the top and becomes solid!. Then remove the solid fat, and use ~ that's 100% flavor, and your beans will love it ~ so will you ;)Www@FoodAQ@Com
I would let it be as it!. It adds great flavor to the beans!. I always add a few strips of regular bacon to my beans!. Plus the heat kills any germs on it!. So I'd say your good!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
I'll trade you a slice of my coconut cream pie for a bowl of your hockey beans!.,,,,Www@FoodAQ@Com
