Couscous is a wonderful, versatile pasta, made of tiny grains of dough that are steamed!. It hails from Morocco and northern Algeria, and is a staple throughout North Africa!. It can be served as a breakfast cereal, dressed as a salad, and sweetened for a dessert!. But in it's most common use, it accompanies a stew or savory sauce, much as rice does in other cultures!. Most couscous is made of wheat flour, but there are varieties made of barley, corn, and even ground acorn meal!.

There are hundreds of recipes to choose from online!.

I usually add some dry herbs to my cous cous, it gives it a nice, wholesome flavouring!. For even more of an authentic taste I usually add a small amount of Tandoori, but any spice will work nicely to give more depth to the flavour!. Salt & pepper are key ingredients!. You could also try fresh parsley or mint with a cream & chive sauce, it tastes gorgeouse! Or if your looking for an everyday taste, a vegetable or meat stock cube and some herbs will give a simple yet nice flavouring! To get the most out of your cous cous try adding some mushroom in alight sauce, onions, crushed garlic, peas etc!. Cous Cous is also a good base for chilli, just make your chilly sauce and some herbed cous cous and enjoy together! Hope this helped :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I love this recipe!.!.!. it is easier than it looks and really delicious!.

Als rockin chicken
6 chicken thighs or 4 skinless boneless chicken breasts
1 large onion cut into thin wedges
4 crushed garlic cloves
1 tsp each of cinnamon, ground cumin and nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup chicken bouillon or broth
1 cup orange juice
1 tbsp honey
3 carrots
1 cup couscous
4 green onions thickly sliced

1 Remove skin from thighs, if using!. Place onion and garlic in large non stick frying pan!. Sprinkle with seasonings and place chicken on top!. Add bouillon, orange juice and honey, then place over medium high heat!. Cook uncovered, stirring onion occasionally for 10 minutes, turning chicken halfway through!. This will sweeten onion and reduce liquid slightly!. Meanwhile, thinly slice carrots!. Add carrots to pan as soon as they are sliced!.

2!. Once onion has cooked for 10 minutes, partially cover and reduce heat to medium low!. Simmer turning chicken partway through, until chicken feels springy, about 10 to 15 minutes!. Remove chicken to a heated plate and cover to keep warm!. Stir couscous and green onion into pan juices, cover and turn off heat!. Let stand for 5 minutes (this is enough to cook the couscous)!. Serve chicken on couscous!.

OOhhhhh I love cous cous salad!. Here's what I do!.

Add to cooked and cooled cous cous:
- diced cucumber
- diced baby tomatoes
- chopped parsley
- chopped spring onions
- squeeze of lime
- salt and cracked pepper to taste

Then if you want to add that little bit extra, you can crush/mince about a teaspoon of garlic, add it about half a cup of yogurt, mix it up well and add some salt and pepper!. Then mix again and put a big dollop ontop!.

Yuuummmmm!!! (might go home and do that now actually - now that I am thinking of it!)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Jazz it up with a lot of mixed herbs!. Parsley and Basil would be good!.

also, you can mix it with some roasted red peppers or another vegetable to kind of kick it up!.

Simple seasoning goes a long way, try cooking it in chicken, beef or vegetable stock instead of water!. You'll have that nice background flavor that is a little salty and really tasty!. Match it up with whatever your main dish is!. So chicken with chicken, beef with beef, etc!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cold couscous as a salad!. Make the couscous, let it get cold!. Then add some olive oil, some diced cucumber, some halved cherry tomatoes, lots of sultanas, a little ground black pepper and a pinch of salt and some shredded basil leaves!. Leave to chill in the fridge before eating!. Ideal as an accompaniment for grilled meats!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I like to add a few spices (like garlic, onion, basil) and some ground turkey and vegetables (like green/red peppers, corn, green beans)!. I've had it with teriyaki sauce and crab meat - that's also good!. Here are a couple of sites with some couscous recipes that even sound better than my ideas:
