Answers:
It helps to avoid as much lead as possible!. Hot water dissolves more lead than does cold water!. So, water taken from the hot water tap is more likely to contain lead from the piping system than does cold water!. Even modern plumbing systems can contain a fair amount of lead!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cold water does not boil faster than hot or even warm water, that's ludicrous!. You must be confused with very hot water, close to 100C, freezing faster than cool water, due to evaporative cooling effects!. There is no scientific basis on which to base your claim that cold water boils faster than hot water!.
Cooking with cold water is not important nowadays, but back when contamination was a concern, warm water was a much more inviting to microorganisms and can hold more other contaminants than cold water!. So it made sense to use a more "fresh" water when cooking!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

this was just answered last night on a food show on the food channel!. Cold water does not boil faster but the thing is, in older homes, the hot water sometimes sits in the pipes a while and can pick up contaminants and so it was felt that that is why the cold water boils faster myth was invented, to encourage people to use the cold water tap!. I have tried it, cold water does not boil faster!. It takes longer to reach boiling point with cold water than with hot water!. No magic, the hot water is closer to the correct temp for boiling than the cold water is!. simple!. Some things work better started with cold water!. Rice is an example!. Put your rice and your cold water in a pan with a bit of salt and bring to a boil and it will cook perfectly and not stick to the bottom of the pan!. Not sure why but it works!. Starting boiling eggs with cold water prevents them from cracking!. Simply put the eggs in a pan, add the cold water and salt and bring to a boil!., Remove from heat and cover and wait for 10 minutes, drain and chill in cold water and you have perfect boiled eggs, no green rings at all!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hot water tends to dissolve contaminents more readily than cold!. Like, many water pipes tend to have lead and this is leached into hot water as it passes through!. Better to use cold!. Even plumbing wares advertised as "lead free' can still contain as much as 8% lead!. It is only from the plumbing and not the water source!. (Journal of Environmental Health)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I use hot water but it depends on what i'm cooking if it's noodles or something then hot water is the way to go!.!.!. i find that a bit of salt in the water makes the water boil faster idk why!.!.!. i don't find that cold boils faster it's boils at the same rate as hot water!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

there is no difference, i always use hot water!. When you boils it the living cells, if any, die!.
