How do I make Curry flavor?!

Question: How do I make Curry flavor!?
How do you make curry chicken or curry shrimp or curry couscous!? Can you just buy curry at the supermarket or do you have to combine spices!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I just buy curry powder!. I mix regular curry powder with hot curry powder as the regular isn't hot enough, and the hot is too hot!.

You can also buy a huce range of curry sauces, but I find they are in big jars, are expensive, and if you don't like them you have to dump them, and I don't like wasting money!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A curry usually involves a blend of several different spices, and not all curries are the same!. There are hundreds of regional variations, each using different spices!.

For Indian curries, there are several spices that you'll find are quite common, including: cumin, turmeric, cardamom, coriander, bay leaf, cloves, saffron, cinnamon, anise, paprika, cayenne, peppercorns, tamarind, dried chillis, fennel, etc!.

Obviously, that's a lot of spices for some people to keep around the house if they don't cook many curries!. That's why a lot of people choose to use pre-blended powders or pastes rather than keeping all that stuff on hand!.

Garlic, ginger, and onions are also essential for many dishes!. For the liquid part, common ingredients are coconut milk, yogurt, stock, tomatoes!.!.!.

For starting out, I'd recommend getting a couple of basic curry pastes, just to figure out what kinds you like!. A lot of them will have recommendations on them for kinds of meats/vegetables they're most suitable for!. After that, you can start to experiment with making your own!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Curry powder is actually a pulverized blend of up to 20 spices, herbs and seeds!. Among those most commonly used are cardamom, chiles, cinnamon, cloves, coriander, cumin, fennel seed, fenugreek, mace, nutmeg, red and black pepper, poppy and sesame seeds, saffron, tamarind and turmeric (the latter is what gives curried dishes their characteristic yellow color)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
