2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
1/3 cup shortening
1 cup milk

Makes 6!.

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C)!.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar!. Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse meal!. Gradually stir in milk until dough pulls away from the side of the bowl!.
Turn out onto a floured surface, and knead 15 to 20 times!. Pat or roll dough out to 1 inch thick!. Cut biscuits with a large cutter or juice glass dipped in flour!. Repeat until all dough is used!. Brush off the excess flour, and place biscuits onto an ungreased baking sheet!.
Bake for 13 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges begin to brown!.

4 cups baking mix
3 ounces Cheddar cheese, shredded
1 1/3 cups water

1/2 cup melted butter
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon dried parsley

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C)!. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper!.
In a mixing bowl, combine the baking mix, cheese, and water!. Mix until dough is firm!. Using a small scoop, place dough on the prepared pan!.
Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown!.
Combine the melted butter, garlic powder, salt, onion powder and parsley!. Brush over baked biscuits immediately upon removing from oven!.

1 3/4 cups quick-cook, rolled oats
1 cup carrots, shredded
1/2 cup plain flour
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup nonfat, dry milk powder
1/4 cup solid shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 egg
Preparation Combine the flours, milk powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon!.

In another bowl, cream together the shortening, sugar, and molasses!.

Add the egg and then the dry ingredients!.

Stir until well blended!.

Add the carrots, vanilla, and oats, and mix well!.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet!.

Bake in a preheated 375F oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned!.

Sift Flour once, measure, add baking powder and salt, and sift again!. Cut in shortening or butter!. (this is where I use my hands by rubbing the butter into the flour)!. Add milk gradually, stirring until soft dough is formed!. Turn out on slightly floured board and lightly "knead" for 30 seconds, enough to shape!. Roll 1/2 inch thick and cut with 2 inch floured biscuit cutter!. Bake on ungreased sheet in a 400 degree oven for 12-15 minutes!. Makes 12 biscuits!. You can also make tiny tea biscuits that are only 1 1/2 inches wide with a small cutter or glass bottom!. These are great served with tea, jam or honey!. Makes 24!.

I love biscuits and have tried many recipes!. This one by far is the most delicious recipe I have ever made! It is super easy to make and absolutely delightful!
