Have you tried Asda Extra Special pork and leek they are gorgeous!. also really love Asda Organic Pork!. Dad is a butcher so I am really fussy about sausages (he once worked in a sausage factory and was totally disgusted by what he saw - yuk!!)!.
Anyway you need to pay for quality the cheap ones are soooo full of rubbish (made in yukky factories!) they'll probably taste horrid too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The reason the sausage is spongy is because the makers have incorporated a lot of water and fillers to make more money!. If you want good sausage you are going to have to spend a little more money!. If you are buying prepackaged sausage read the ingredients list on the back of the label, a long list with a lot of stuff you never hear of is bad!. The best way to get good sausage is to buy it from a butcher who makes his own, it is the most expensive but you will usually end up with fresher better tasting sausage!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
The best sausages have a high % of meat!.
I think the organic sausages are good, and some of the own brand better quality ones, or the ones you get from a quality butcher!. They cost more but I think they're worth it if you don't want to end up with a tasteless sausage that's shrunk to half it's original size!. Definitely a case of you get what you pay for!.
A guide to brands would be Duchy Original, Sainsbury's Organic or Taste the Difference, or Waitrose equivalent to Sainsbury's!. I can't comment on other supermarket brands as I've never tried them!. I do know my local butcher has a good choice of sausages made with locally sourced meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
