Can I subtitute butter in a recipe with shortening?!

Question: Can I subtitute butter in a recipe with shortening!?
I'm making cookies, and I don't have any butter, all I have is the tub margarine, will that work!? Or I have shortening!. How will the cookies be if I used either of those instead of the stick of butter!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I prefer butter over shortening and you can't substitute that great flavor with anything else!.
Margarine and shortening can be used in a pinch!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can use shortening, but not the margarine in the tub because it has too much water!. Do an internet search on substituting shortening for butter!. I believe you will have to adjust the recipe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

margarine!. same as butter, but made from animal not vegetable fat!.

i always use margerine in my cookies - taste great :DWww@FoodAQ@Com
