corn starch will work!. put a few tablespoons in a dish with about 1/4 cup water mix well and then put in your stew!. make sure to stir while you put the mixture in!. you won't have any lumps and the taste won't change!. hope this helps!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Mix cornstarch and cold water together and add to the stew!. Cook until thickened!.


Beef Stew


3 Tablespoons Corn Oil
2 Pounds Beef Stew Meat
1 Cube Beef Bouillon
2 Teaspoons Salt
1 Bay Leaf
? Teaspoon Dried Thyme, crushed
4 ? cups Water
6 Carrots, cut in 3" strips
12 Small White Onions
? cup Cornstarch


In skillet heat corn oil over medium heat!.

Add beef; brown on all sides!.

Add next 4 ingredients and 4 cups of the water!. Cover; bring to boil!.
Reduce heat; simmer 1 1/2 hours!.

Add carrots and onions!.

Simmer 1/2 hour or until tender!.

Mix corn starch and 1/2 cup water!.

Stir into beef mixture!.

Bring to boil, stirring constantly; boil 1 minute!.

There are a few things you can try if your stew is too thin!. Put one of the following in cold water and mix until smooth, then add to your stew: Instant mashed potatoes, corn starch or flour!. You can also puree some cooked beans and add them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A couple tablespoons of cornstarch mixed with 1/2 cup COLD water poured slowly into the hot stew while stirring!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tomato paste and dip the beef in flour then brown, that also helps to thicken the stew!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I do mine one of 2 ways!.!.!.!.!.!.!.

I put a few extra small potatoes in then smash them into the gravy

or I use Wondra flour it is great
