I'm making pumpkin puree, can I use a hand mixer?!

Question: I'm making pumpkin puree, can I use a hand mixer!?
I'm making pumpkin puree and the pumpkin is already done, and I just realized it said I need a hand BLENDER and I only have an electric hand mixer!. I don't have a food processor or a regular blender, do you think I'll be able to use this and it will work!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
The hand mixer has the same effect as the blender!.
I wouldn't use either for a pumpkin purée though as I like my purées a bit rougher!. I would use a hand masher to make a soft fluffy rough mash!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you cook your pumpkin until it is soft you will be able to push it through a wire sieve!. use the back of a wooden spoon to press it through and you should get a good result!. JxWww@FoodAQ@Com

your best bet will be borrow a food processor or a hand held liquidiser an elecrtic mixer (like the ones with 2 whisks on wont do the trick it will just make a mess)
