Can I substitute pumpkin for the squash in this recipe?!

Question: Can I substitute pumpkin for the squash in this recipe!?
I am making Three Sisters Stew for Samhain and I don't have any butternut squash!. Can I substitute pumpkin for it!? Should I not add the garlic if I do!? I am having cornbread muffins and homemade buns with it!. Dessert is candy bar Cheesecake with fudge sauce!. Plus I also have various cookies, quick breads and old fashioned carmel apples too!. Answers:
Yes, you can certainly substitute pumpkin for squash!. After all pumpkin IS a type of squash!. And pumpkin is an excellent substitute for butternut squash as they are both semi-sweet types of squashes!. Go ahead and try using the garlic!. make a little of both, you may find both or one or the other more to your liking!.

Sounds like a perfect substitute for Samhain, anyway!.

I would make a smaller amount using the pumpkin without garlic and see how that works!. You might find you like it!. "Cooking is experimentation" my dad would say!. another saying he was fond of was "You need to break a lot of eggs before you get a good amulet!." Have some fun with it!. Try different spices with it as well!.
Menu sounds yummy! Let us know how it turns out!
