As one poster commented, the PERFECT PECAN PIE has CHOCOLATE in it!. I make this every year for the holidays:
CHOCOLATE PECAN PIE
3/4 c!. sugar
1 c!. dark corn syrup
1/2 tsp!. salt
3 eggs
2 TB flour
2 TB butter, melted
3 oz!. unsweetened chocolate, melted
1-1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2- 2-2/12 c!. pecan halves
9" pastry shell, unbaked (deep dish frozen crust is fine)
whipped cream
!.!.!.Combine and beat together first 6 ingredients!. Add next 4 ingredients and mix well!. Pour into pastry shell!. Turn some of the pecans rounded-side up (to look prettier)!. Bake at 300 for 1 hour, or until set!. Cool and top with whipped cream (and maybe chocolate shavings)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Take your pie dough out of the refrigerator, and roll it out till it looks like the picture at the left!. It should be about 1/8 of an inch in thickness!. Then, apply more flour to the rolling pin!. Wrap the dough around the rolling pin, and unroll it onto your pie pan!. Cut the excess crust off around the edge of the pie pan so that the crust hangs 1 inch around the edge!. We use a pan with a gully around the edge to catch anything that overflows!.

Pinch around the edge of the pie dough so that it folds in half!. If you did not leave a one inch border, you will not have enough dough to do this!. If this happened to you, just take it out of the pan and roll it out again properly!.

Now, go around the edge and pinch it as shown here to create a wave shape!. This is an important step; it will impact the final look of your pie!. Work with it a little to get the look you see at the left!.

After the pie has been in the oven for about 30 minutes, take it out, and put strips of tinfoil around the edge to keep the pie crust from burning!. Be careful not to spill you pie! The filling is runny and quite hot!. Then, put the pie back in the oven!.

After you put the pie back in the oven, it will need another 30 to 40 minutes!. After about 30 minutes (a total of 1 hour in the oven) test the pie to see if it is done!. You can test the pie by sticking a knife in the middle!. If the knife comes out clean, the pie is done; if it comes out dirty, it needs about 10 more minutes in the oven

1 deep dish pie crust
1 (8 oz!.) pkg!. cream cheese, softened
4 eggs
1/2-1/4 c!. sugar
2 tsp!. vanilla
1/4 tsp!. salt
3/4 c!. dark Karo syrup
1 1/2 c!. chopped pecans
Beat cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1/4 teaspoon salt until smooth and creamy!. Set aside!.
Blend 3 eggs, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla and Karo syrup!. Spread cream cheese mixture in bottom of pie crust!. Sprinkle pecans on top!. Pour syrup mixture on top!. Bake at 375 degrees for 35-45 minutes until center is set!.

Besides adding chocolate!? lol!. Most recipes are similar, just don't worry too much about what it looks like going in, it may have little lumps of butter floating on top, but it will all cook together!. Don't overcook, and be sure you put it on a sturdy cookie sheet when you bake it!. If you have a cheap one that bows in the oven, you may end up with a spill or a lop-sided pie!.
