Does anyone notice restaurants can't cook too well?!
I end up being asked out alot by my kids and I really detest alot of chicken fettichini-over seasoned meat ruined the dish!. Then at another restaurant my kid took us too, the sauce was ruined by a ton of parmesan cheese in it!. Then another restaurant had a sauce that was so rich you could hardly eat three bites of it!. These are not cheap places but the chefs must not eat their food!. Is there a secret to ordering out!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Some dishes at some places are good!.!.!.some aren't!.
Ask the waiter/waitress what they recommend!. It's to their benefit to make sure you have a good meal as that leads to a better tip!. So if they know the guy doing the pasta in the back isn't the best, they'll recommend something else!.
Sometimes a place just messes up the dish!. Don't be afraid to send it back, or ask for something else!. One time I went to a Japanese restaurant and decided to try their yakisoba, which is a fried noodle dish I've had at other places (and made it at home!.) What I got was a plate of cold oily spaghetti with some raw vegetables!. I sent that back immediately!. I have no idea how that was allowed to pass as yakisoba, or it was even allowed to be served to a customer like that!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you are a picky eater, then you must ask specifics when ordering!. Ask the waitress- if the sauce is thick, strong flavored, mild, peppery, heavily seasoned, thin, runny, lots of cheese or just a little, etc!. The chef should be happy to answer your questions for the waitress- I don't know a single "good" cook who doesn't sample their food!. It just might not be to your liking!.
You must ask specifics- I on the other hand am not picky, and usualy have no complaints when ordering something, appreciating the different recipes used in different establishments, if of course it it reputable!.!.therefore not needing to ask specifics of my ordered dish!.
Maybe you should try ordering something different than fettuccini since you seem to be unhappy with the results everywhere you go!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It seems foods with that gravy and sauce hiding the veggies, meat, or noodles underneath covers the true taste of the dish, which doesn't make sense to me!.
I would ask that the sauce be served on the side and that be thin enough to pour!. At least you can control how much to use, so the taste isn't so overpowering!.
For the chicken fettichini, the chicken taste should come thru!. I beleive spices should be used to enhance a dish, not be the primary taste!. Ask the server that the chicken not be seasoned, that you will do it yourself!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Avoid the chain restaurants since you are basically buying TV dinners!. The problem is that cooks don't make anything like they use to!. I was making $11/hour in 1988 and it's hard to find that now 20 years later!. The industry has been ruined by places like Applebee's and prepared frozen food!. I run a kitchen now, make good pay and put out good food, but it is astonishing what some people put out!.
In general try to go mid week when it's not busy!. If you go out on a fri-sat at 6:30 there will be one real cook in the kitchen and three or four high school kids who could care less about the food!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Skip chain restaurants because the food is cooked by inexperienced chefs cooking corporate recipes
If you like a dish a certain way, then ask!. I also hate a ton of cheese and request certain things not be served with it!.
I ask for some things on the side (like bbq sauce)
I tend not to order cream dishes!. I make them better at home, and I like to eat small portions of them!.
