How do you cook a pumpkin?!
I have a nice pumpkin that I would like to cook, but I'm not sure how to do it!. Should I cut it in chunks & boil it or roast it like a squash!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
first you want to gut it out as you would if you were going to be carving it!. then youll want to cut it into appropriate sizes to fit in whatever dish{es} your going to use and basically roast it like a squash yes!. try putting spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon, cardomom!. pretty much anything youd like!. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C)!.
Halve pumpkin and scoop out seeds and stringy portions!. Cut pumpkin into chunks!. In saucepan over medium heat, in 1 inch of boiling water heat the pumpkin to a boil!. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 30 minutes or until tender!. Drain, cool and remove the peel!.
you may want to consider buying a pie pumpkin vs!. a pumpkin meant for carving/decorating!. Pie pumkins are smaller and smoother and are labeled as pie pumpkins (check the produce section of your grocery store)!. A larger pumpkin you carve for a jack-o-lantern will have stringier pulp; it's bred for looks and size not taste/texture!.
