Should I add yeast to my lazy sourdough starter?!
I thought it was the flour I was getting but I think it was my yeast!. I started my starter with the bad yeast so should I just add more!? And how much!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm not sure I understand your question!.!.!. but if you think you put "dead" yeast into your starter, and want to know if you should just add more good one, then the answer is yes!. Add the same amount that you were supposed to add the first time!. This is only if you're sure the first yeast you put in was inactive!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
No don't add commercial yeast!. Go back and start again, using only flour and water!. REAL sourdough never ever contains commercial yeast!. How do we know!? Commercial yeast was a 20th century invention and sourdough!.!.!. real sourdough is thousands of years old!. Never mind that you read recipes from so called informed cookbooks about sourdough starters including commercial yeast!. What they are creating is a pseudo-sourdough, a hybrid, a poolish, biga, etc!.

A healthy sourdough takes weeks and months to develop, it isn't a fast food!. Read up on the science behind sourdough and what makes it happen!. There are hundreds of microflora that can be in there that you need to make happy in order to have a strong, vibrant starter, and that doesn't happen over night!. Kudos to you for trying!
