Preheat oven to 375
Have all ingredients at room temp about 70
Sift before measuring 3 1/2 cups of flour
add 4 tsp double acting baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt to flour and re-sift twice to mix!.
Cream 1 cup butter add 2 cups sugar until very light add flour mixture in 3 parts alternating with 1 cup of milk stir until batter is smooth, beat in 1 tsp Vanilla
Beat 8 egg whites until stiff (not dry) Fold egg whites gently into the cake batter!.
Bake the cake in greased pans for about 25 minutes!.
