A question about mayonnaise?!

Question: A question about mayonnaise!?
I read a news story on the internet a couple of years ago that said one in four eggs contain salmonella bacteria and that people should not eat raw eggs because of the risk!.
So my question is this: Doesn't mayonnaise contain raw eggs!? Is it safe to eat!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Commercial mayonnaise is made with pasteurized egg, so it's safe for you!. If you're going to make your own mayonnaise with raw eggs, you'd be better off with an egg substitute, just in case!.

Mayo manufactured commercially have the eggs portions cooked to a specific temperature for food safety reasons!. Homemade mayo doesn't!. You can eat raw eggs--it's risky but I wouldn't recommend serving any raw egg item to babies, small children, pregnant women, the elderly and ppl with compromised immune systems!. I make homemade mayo, aioli and hollandaise sauce but I never give that to my 2 year old baby!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is fine to eat as it has been processed!. !. !. however, one has to wonder about mayo that has been left out to long and gets warm, like with potato salad - have heard of people getting sick from potato salad that has been left out to long!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

They do sell pasteurized eggs in the store if you want to make your own mayo at home!. Store bought mayo isn't contaminated due to the processing!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
