The whole point to extra virgin olive oil is that its cold pressed, a process which protects all the flavor and subtleties of the olive!. Using it in cooking, and therefore exposing it to high heat is a waste of good oil and your money!. There are many medium priced olives perfect for cooking!. Canola is on the other end, it is virtually tasteless!. However, it is a healthy oil and has a very high smoking point!. Save that good extra virgin stuff for your dressings and to use a condiment!Www@FoodAQ@Com
yes you can cook with extra virgin olive oil,, it will lose some of its floral notes and aroma under high heat, but it will still provide flavor and healthy attributes!.
It has a lower smoke point than Canola, but that doesn't mean it has no place in cooking!.
I love eggs cooked on low heat (to avoid browning) with extra virgin olive oil, an egg over easy is fantastic with olive oil (instead of butter) place it over a summer ripe tomato with crushed garlic and fresh basil, your in heaven!.!. of course to finish the dish you need to drizzle it with a bit more olive oil!
Good extra virgin olive oil is hard to find!. I suggest buying Colavita if you can't find anything else!. Alot of the higher priced supermarket brands are junk!. Colavita olive oil is a decent olive oil with a decent price!. Right now I'm enjoying some great olive oil from Texas!.!. its better than anything I've had from Italy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
