;-) hi hun, if you don't mind spending a bit of time and money, make a lasagne !.!.i LOVE my lasagne but can't be bothered to make it too often, the secret is spinach and adding lots of extra cheeses (this is where the expense comes in) add ricotta, mascarpone, and mozzarella (yeah i can't spell!!!! lol) as well as a bit of Cheddar !.!.mmm its worth making as a treat, and serve with salad n garlic bread!!! (ooo i might make it at some point soon!!) enjoy!

as for some another idea !.!. roast a joint of lamb smothered in oregano and lemon, roast new little pots in olive oil n a drizzle of lemon, get some butter beans pour over a jar of tomato and herbs add a couple of cloves of garlic, put them in a covered dish !.!.and throw them in oven to (don't use a pasta tomato sauce, cheap shops tend to have the kind of tomato sauce that goes really well with the beans!!!) this all looks impressive and is soooo easy to do, serve with pittas and a greek salad !.!.and get a couple of greek dips from the supermarket !.!.its a gorgeous feast!!! ;-)

Chinese is easy -
Just get some chicken and slice thinly, slice an onion, mushrooms, tomatoes, and stir fry, add some soy sauce to taste and a bit of water and cook until the chicken is done, 5 minutes approx!. Cut a piece of chicken in half to check the inside is cooked through, no blood!.

Cook some dried egg noodles, they cook very quickly, put in pan with boiling water, separate the noodles in the pan with a fork and cook for a few minutes, drain and add soy sauce and you have a quick meal!.

You can use any ingredients that cook quickly, celery, frozen peas!. You can also use prawns or a good quality beef!. Experiment!.

Fresh fillet of salmon is a good food to cook really quick in the microwave, about 3 minutes depending on how you like it cooked, Put in a microwave dish!. You can add, spices to the top, lemon juice, or just plain!.

Microwave bags are very good for doing fresh vegetables, you can slice potatoes, carrots, cauliflower florests and put them in the bag, they will cook in about 4 minutes!. Just bung them in the bag and fold the bag over and cook for required time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Bruschetta!. Simple!. Full of goodness!. Yummy!

For 2 adults!.

4 large tomatoes
1 clove of garlic
olive oil

cut the tomatoes into 4, finely grate the garlic and put both into a food processor!. Add around 6 tablespoons of olive oil and fresh ground black pepper to taste!. Whizz until pulped!. Leave to stand for at least 15mins!.

Turn your oven on to 200c and either use 4slices of bread or two breadcakes cut into halves, put them in the oven for around 10 mins until they crisp up!.

Put the tomato mixture onto the cooked bread and, i prefer, a slice of goats cheese or you can use whatever cheese you like on top and pop back into the oven for 10mins!.

This makes a great snack or a meal with a good salad!.

Pan fried chicken livers!.
! carton of chicken livers
butter
1 clove of garlic, grated
brandy

really simple, a great starter or main course with just salad and some warm crusty bread + a glass of red wine!.

melt the butter in a frying pan, add the garlic and stir gently for a minute!. Turn up the heat and throw in the chicken livers and sear quickly, keep moving them in the pan for about 4 - 5 mins then thrown in a dash of brandy, coat the livers and then turn out onto plates !.

This is the only liver i use now and it's delicious but shouldn't be eaten too often!.

Buy a recipe book!. For beginners to competent cooks, you can't beat Delia Smith!.

Another very good chef/writer is Nigel Slater!. His book called 'Appetite' has recipes, but also tells you how to make the dish substituting other ingredients!.

Once you have learned the basics you can then start to experiment knowing what flavours will work and those that won't!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

At this time of year you might think about buying a slow cooker; not one of the huge ones, they really are incredibly slow, but one that is the right size for your needs!. They are very reasonably priced now and all have some sort of recipe leaflet or book with them!.!.besides the specialised cookbooks you can get from your local library or book store!.
Make sure that you have certain basic ingredients in your cupboard!.!.mixed herbs,( if you are new to cooking then a simple mix such as Asda's own brand or anyone else's italian herbs are a better idea than having a cabinet full of things you will never get round to using all of!.); tinned chopped tomatoes, tomato pesto, garlic, olive oil!.!.(again look to the own brand labels and try to get extra virgin), curry paste, Madras is the best one to start with, onions and good stock cubes( vegetable ones go with everything)!.
When you prepare meat for the slow cooker always dip it into seasoned flour first and fry gently to brown it all over before putting it into the pot; layer the meat and vegetables so that nothing can pack down too tightly; sprinkling with herbs and seasoning as you go, then add the required amount of water with a stock cube dissolved in it, or if you are making a curry, a tin of tomatoes with a couple of tablespoons of curry paste stirred through and a well crumbled stock cube; following the makers instructions bring everything to the boil and then leave to simmer for however long you need to!.anything from four to ten hours!. If the stew tends to be a little watery for your taste then make some instant gravy up and stir it in very gently before serving!.
The great thing about this method of cooking is that when you have been out for a few hours and get home, the smells are wonderful!
By the way, if you are using fresh mushrooms in a stew or curry, always fry them first to get some of the water out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
