Question: Need help with a Thanksgiving dessert!?
well now that I'm a grown woman, apparently I am expected to make something for Thanksgiving, and I want to make a dessert but I have no idea what to make, it can't be something common like pecan, pumpkin, apple pie bc someone already makes all of those, so any other suggestions!? :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

How about pumpkin cheese cake or pumpkin creme brulee-

Creme Brulee- Preheat oven to 325* Place 8 ramekins in a large baking dish and set aside!.

In a sauce pan combine 2 cups heavy cream, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and 1/4 cup granulated sugar!. Bring to a low simmer and remove from heat!.
In a bowl- whisk 8 egg yolks (freeze the egg whites for something else)
until frothy and lemon colored!. Slowly add 1/2 cup of the hot cream- whisking constantly- add the rest of the egg mixture with the hot cream and whisk!. Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg, and 1 cup pumpkin (canned) and whisk until smooth!. Pour through a strainer into a large bowl!. Divide among ramekins!.
Add enough hot water to the pan to come half way up the sides of the cups- bake until the custards set in the center but are not stiff- 45- 55 minutes!.
Remove from oven and chill for at least 3 hours!.
Sprinkle with a little sugar and either broil or torch to brown!.

Pumpkin Cheesecake
Preheat oven to 350* In a 9" springform pan stir 1 cup of graham cracker crumbs with 3 tablespoons melted butter, and 2 tablespoons sugar- press into bottom!. Bake about 10 minutes and let cool completely!.
With mixer at medium speed beat 16 oz!. softened cream cheese until smooth- slowly add 1 1/4 cups sugar scraping with spatula- beat in 16 oz!. pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix) and 3/4 cups sour cream, 2 tablespoons bourbon or vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice, 1/4 teaspoon salt and start adding 4 eggs- one at a time!. Scraping in between!.
Pour cheesecake stuff over crust and place in large roasting pan!. Add enough boiling water to come 1 inch up the pan- bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes- or until center barely jigglesWww@FoodAQ@Com

Pumpkin Roll

2/3 cup pumpkin
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3 eggs
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup flour

Mix together and pour into prepared sheet cake pan (greased, lined with waxed paper, and regreased) and sprinkle with 1/3 cup chopped nuts!. Bake at 375 degrees F!. for 15 minutes!. Sprinkle towel with confectioner's sugar!. Place cake on the towel, roll up, and let set for 2 hours!.
Filling:
2 tablespoons butter
3/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 8-ounce pkg!. cream cheese
1 cup confectioner's sugar

Mix together and spread on reopened cake roll!. Roll up and refrigerate!. Slice as thick as you want and serve!.

This recipe makes one roll that works well with or without the nuts!. My sister-in-law got this recipe from me and sold the rolls in the St!. Louis area for three years (made quite a bit of money at it, too!)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Lemon Meringue Pie- This is what Im making its simple and tastes great here is my recipe!.
Ingredients
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
3 egg yolks
1 (8-inch) prebaked pie shell or crumb crust
Meringue:
3 egg whites
1/4 teaspoon cream or tartar
1/4 cup sugar
Directions
In medium bowl, combine milk, lemon juice, and zest; blend in egg yolks!. Pour into cooled crust!.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F!.

Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until soft peaks from!. Gradually beat in the sugar until stiff!. Spread over filling; seal to edge of crust!. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until meringue is golden brown!.
