A question about boiling eggs?!

Question: A question about boiling eggs!?
When I peal a boiled egg,it's like some one glued the shell on!.
What am I doing wrong!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
First, since the eggs are never boiled, the proper name os hard-cooked eggs!.

The Shirley Corriher Method:

Use enough older eggs to cover the bottom of a heavy sauce pan!. Add salted water to level 1" above eggs!. Bring to a full boil!. Remove from heat and let stand covered 16 minutes!. Run under cold water for 15 minutes!.

They're perfectly cooked and the shells fall right off!.

For a nice touch set the egg carton on it's side the day before cooking and the yolks will center themselves!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Everything!.

When you "peel" a boiled egg, the shell should provide some resistance to "peeling!." That's normal, try not to crack the entire shell while peeling, just a little part and then work to remove huge chunks of the shell whole!.

1) Place the eggs in a pot of water, both cold!.
2) Turn the heat on medium-high, bring the water to a boil - this allows the eggs to warm without the gases inside expanding too much and breaking the egg's shell, causing the egg to 'explode' mid-boil!.
3) When the water starts to boil, lower the heat to low - allow it to simmer 8 to 13 minutes, depending on size of egg and hardness preference!.
4) When you're done boiling, IMMEDIATELY move the eggs into a container filled with more water and ice - chill the eggs!.
5) Peel while COLD, unlike what some people might say on this thread!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The fresher the egg, the harder it is to peel!. So, at least you know when you have a nice, fresh egg!

Here's what I do, and I love egg salad, and make hard-boiled eggs a lot!. After you are finished boiling the eggs, fill the pan with cold water, with the eggs in it!. Take out an egg, one at a time, and roll them on a paper towel to crack the shell all over, in to small pieces!. Then peel the egg!. The egg will be hot and hard to handle, but I find if they are cold, you cannot peel them as easily!. Peel all of the eggs and put them in a container and refrigerate them until you need them!. If you don't want to peel the eggs right away, you can refrigerate them, and when you do want to peel one, place the egg in a cup of very warm water for about 30 seconds!. Then peel as above!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

most of these are good answers!. Start with the water and the eggs cold, boil for several minutes!.!.!.!.!.

It does not matter how much you crack the shell!. The easiest way to peel a boiled egg is to hold it under running cold water!. The water will help by getting between the shell and the egg!. It also washes away any little pieces that might get stuck in your egg dish!. When you are done, you can just turn on the garbage disposal and get rid of the shells!. If you don't have a garbage disposal under your sink, I would recommend a colander, or wire strainer!. The trick is not under boiling the eggs!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, when I peel eggs, I tap the shell on the edge of the sink, and I rotate the egg while tapping it so that at least half of it is cracked!. When I start taking the shell off, it gives more easily, and since it is in smalled pieces, big hunks of the egg don't come off with the shell!. And I always take the shells off of my eggs when they are hot!. If I let them cool too much, it makes the job a million times harder!Www@FoodAQ@Com

ok somethimes this means that the egg is too fresh!. If you plan to boileggs, you would want to buy them at 5-7 days before you plan to use them!. After they are boiled, try soaking them kin cool water for about 5 mins so the egg seperates from the shell!. It also helps to submerge the egg under water and peel!. the water gets inbetween the egg and shell and acts as a solution!. ( i!.e!. nail polish remover )

But to make sure your were boiling eggs right, place your eggs in water, make sure theyre submerged!. make sure when you boiling the pot comes to a full boil meaning the up coming bubblles are big, when the water reaches that point, turn the stove off and let them cool down!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You may not be doing anything wrong!. It may simply mean that the egg is very fresh!. Try some of the advice you have been given here, but the truth is that it is impossible to peel a fresh egg neatly!. Usually the eggs you buy in the supermarket are not that fresh, but if you want to boil eggs for peeling keep eggs in your fridge for at least a week or two in advance of using them!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

People think that to boil an egg you put the egg in cold water and boil it to death!. Don't do that!. You need to bring the water to a boil first, then place the egg into the water!. Turn off the stove and let the egg sit in the water for 15-16 min!. Take the eggs out and place them in a bowl of cold water!. Let them cool!. Then their ready to peel!. Basically the problem is over boiling them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

For salads and sandwiches, when your eggs have boiled, drop them immediately into cold water or under cold running water!. Leave to cool and the shell will just drop off! If you want "boiled egg and soldiers", put in egg cup, tap lightly until shell cracks and ease the handle part of your spoon under the shell!. It should be easy to remove!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

you may be over or under cooking the egg!. The best way I've found to boil and egg is to bring a bot of water to a hard boil then turn off the heat and add the eggs!. Leave them for about 10 minuets then remove them and but them in ice cold water for another 10 minuets!. the shell should peel off as easy as clothes off of a drunk freshman sorority girl!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've had this happen to me, too, until I started cooking them this way: I put them in the pan, cover them with cool tap water, then bring them to a boil!. Simmer them (not full boil) for about 15 minutes, shut the burner off and let them cool for a few minutes!. Then, run them (still in the pan) under cold, running water!. Let them sit in cold water for a few minutes, then peel!. I find that rolling them on the counter gently first loosens the shell and makes them easier to peel!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

You may not be boiling them long enough!.
1!.slow boil them for about 12 minutes in water that is 2 inches above the eggs!.
2!.after boiling them immediately put them in ice water with a teaspoon of baking soda!.
3!. crack and peel both ends of the egg
4!. blow through the small end and the egg will slide through the larger end!. be sure to catch it!.

I cheated, I used this video!. It works (ive tried it)

Maybe you are not cooking it long enough!.

Usually you can easily break it by rolling it between your hands, then just peel the shell off!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is best to boil eggs that are older, not expired just older!. This creates an air pocket between the shell and egg which makes it easier to peal!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I just break a shell a little bit at the bottom and blow!. then it's easy to peal!. You are not doing anything wrong - it's just some eggs are like this!.

MartinWww@FoodAQ@Com

Make sure you let them cool off!. If they are too hot, the shell will stick to it!.

also, run the egg under COLD water before peeling it!. That usually works!Www@FoodAQ@Com

After boiling a egg, put it in cold water for about 3-5 minutes!. It makes peeling easier!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The trick is boil eggs that are a few weeks old!. Fresh hard boiled eggs are hard to peel!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is very easy: you should put hot boiled eggs into cold water for a while!Www@FoodAQ@Com
