What's a good frosting to use for cake decorations?!

Question: What's a good frosting to use for cake decorations!?
Like, details and stuff!. Bright colors!.!.!.!. And, a good one to cover the whole cake with that won't mix with the one I want to do details with!. also bright colors!.

Either something you can buy at the store, or put in a recipe for a homemade one!. The detail one should be one that can stand on it's own at least a little bit (especially after refrigeration)

Thanks!

Btw!.!.!. I think I want the detail frosting to be brown, for a bridge (going over a river), and the frosting that just goes on the cake should be bright green and bright blue!. also, I'll need some white frosting for the details!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have 3 recipes!. All work well!.

Seven Minute Frosting
2 egg whites
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/3 cup cold water
1 1/2 teaspoons light cornsyrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1!. Put egg whites, sugar, water and syrup in top of double boiler!. Beat until mixed well!. Place over rapidly boiling water!. Beat constantly with electric beater while it cooks for 7 minutes or until it will stand in peaks when beater is raised!. Remove from heat!. Add vanilla!. Beat!. Fills and frosts 2 layer cake, 8 or 9 inch!.

Buttercream Icing

1/2 c!. Crisco shortening (highest grade)
1/2 tsp!. vanilla or other flavoring
1/4 tsp!. salt
1 drop buttercream flavor (optional)
4 tbsp!. water
1 lb!. powdered sugar, sifted

Mix shortening, flavoring, salt and buttercream flavor thoroughly together!. Add powdered sugar and water and mix with an electric mixer at top speed to whipped cream consistency, 5 minutes!. Keep sealed and in the refrigerator!. Add more water as needed!. This is decorator quality icing from a cake decorating class!.

Fluffy White Frosting

6 tbsp!. flour
1 c!. milk
1 c!. Crisco
1/4 c!. butter
1 c!. white sugar
1 tsp!. vanilla

Cook together until thick, 6 tablespoons flour and 1 cup milk; set aside until cool!. Do not put in ice box!. Do not put on warm cake!. Beat Crisco, butter, sugar, and vanilla until thick!. It will look like whipped cream!. Add to flour mixture!. Beat all together until smooth and fluffy!.

Either ones you choose, all you have to do to color them is all color or maybe some Hershey's choco powder for brown and stuff!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The fluffy frostings aren't very good for decorating!. They're great if you just want to frost, but for making a decoration that will hold it's shape, you need something a little stiffer!. Believe me, I tried to decorate a birthday cake with blue 7 minute frosting over white 7 minute frosting and it didn't go well! (Tasted good though!.)

Professional bakers use fondant to make shapes--it's stiffer, but still edible!. Here are 2 recipes, one from Allrecipes - http://tinyurl!.com/4jaoxc and one from Food Network - http://tinyurl!.com/6ldzohWww@FoodAQ@Com

I have a great one! Maybe you can get all different sorts of color green!.!.!. blue!. pink or colors of the rainbow and make a little rainbow, and like the bridge you put & a little sun, some scenery would be pro!
