Question: Gammon joint!! help!!?
i have a gammon but it has no instructions on how to cook it it is 1!.1 kg, how long do i cook it for !? xWww@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
You can boil gammon joints, just put joint into enough water to cover and bring to boil, drain and add water to half way up joint, cook for 25 minutes a pound, so trying to covert to kilos that would take just over an hour, gammon stays nice and moist if boiled, If you cook in the oven cover with tinfoil to keep in moisture, but I don't know what temp or for how long because I never cook gammon this way except at christmas when I cover with slices of orange, I make a salty pastry and cover the gammon with a thick layer, but for a small bacon joint it may get to dry in the oven, hope this helps good luckWww@FoodAQ@Com

Thye best way I find is to put in a slow cooker on low!.
Put the gammon in the cooker, pour over half a mug of water and leave for 3 hrs!.

It comes out really tender and melt in the mouth, I have family in Ireland they love cooked ham/gammon, and bought a slow cooker and did this, now half of Dublin own one!
If you dont own one they sell them in argos for about £25!.00, buy the 3litre one, the smaller ones dont seem to cook as good!.
