Question: What is the best Greek dish I can learn to cook!? !?
I want to learn to make a staple food (something Greek people eat a lot) and something yummy with fish or lamb! I am a novice at this so please be super detailed!. Hug in advance for your help!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

GREEK GRILLED GROUPER

2 grouper filet
Greek seasoning (powder kind found in spices)
1 small can stewed tomatoes (with garlic variety)
1 small can chopped black olives

Place fish filet in oil-sprayed (Pam) foil pan!. Coat with Greek powder seasoning!. Spread stewed tomatoes on top of fish filet!. Sprinkle with Greek seasoning again!. Top with chopped black olives!. Lightly sprinkle with Greek seasoning again!. (DO NOT SALT)
Cover with foil and seal around sides of pan!. Put pan on hot grill!. Cook on medium head for about 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on thickness of fish filets!. You may squeeze lemon juice on top after cooking if you desire a more tart tasting fish!.

This can be done with any kind of fish!. Shark is excellent

BROILED LAMB CHOPS, GREEK STYLE

1 tbsp!. oregano
1 tsp!. spearmint flakes
1/2 tsp!. garlic
1/2 tsp!. thyme
1 tsp!. salt
Pepper to taste
Garlic powder
1 lemon
Allow 2 chops per person

Mix herbs with salt and pepper in a small bowl!. Arrange chops on unslotted broiler pan!. Pork chops may be substituted!. Sprinkle with some of the herb mixture!. Broil 7 minutes (I rub the herbs into the chops after brushing them with olive oil) on one side!. Turn over and sprinkle tops with remaining herb mixture!. Continue broiling 5 to 8 minutes more depending on how well done you want them to be!. Remove chops to a serving platter and squeeze half a lemon over them!.

GREEK SALAD

8 to 10 c!. mixed salad greens (iceberg, romaine, etc!.)
2 tomatoes, cut into wedges
1 cucumber, cut in half lengthwise and sliced thinly
2 ribs celery, sliced
4 green onions, sliced
1 c!. feta cheese, crumbled
Greek black olives, if available
1 tsp!. oregano, crumbled

Wash and dry greens, place in large salad bowl!. Crumble oregano over greens, and mix lightly!. Arrange remaining ingredients over greens in an attractive manner!. Pour dressing over salad and toss just before serving time!.

DRESSING:

2/3 c!. olive oil
1/3 c!. white vinegar
1/2 tsp!. seasoned salt
1/4 tsp!. coarse black pepper

The typical rule for dressing is 2 parts oil to 1 part acid (either vinegar or lemon juice)!. This is seasoned with a dash of salt or seasoned salt and pepper

Sartheles Psites: Baked Sardines with Garlic & Oregano

In Greek: σαρδ?λε? ριγαν?τε?, pronounced sar-THEH-les ree-ghah-NAH-tes

The hardest part of this recipe may be finding fresh sardines!. This is a favorite dish all over Greece, and an easy one to make!. The recipe calls for fresh sardines, garlic, oregano, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper!.
Cook Time: 45 minutes
Ingredients:

* 2 - 2 1/2 pounds of fresh sardines
* sea salt
* freshly ground pepper
* Greek oregano (rigani)
* 5-6 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced
* 1/2 cup of olive oil
* 1/2 cup of lemon juice
* 1/2 cup of water

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 355°F (180°C)!.

Remove scales and intestines from the sardines, leaving heads intact!.

Lay sardines in a baking pan and top with all remaining ingredients, using salt, pepper, and oregano to taste (don't skimp), sprinkling evenly!.

Spanakopita

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 large onions, chopped
2 (10 ounce) packages frozen chopped spinach - thawed, drained and squeezed dry
2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 (4 ounce) packages feta cheese, crumbled
4 eggs, lightly beaten
salt and pepper to taste
1 1/2 (16 ounce) packages phyllo dough
3/4 pound butter, melted


DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)!.
Heat vegetable oil in a large saucepan over medium heat!. Slowly cook and stir onions until softened!. Mix in spinach, dill and flour!. Cook approximately 10 minutes, or until most of the moisture has been absorbed!. Remove from heat!. Mix in feta cheese, eggs, salt and pepper!.
Lay phyllo dough flat and brush with butter!. Place a small amount of spinach mixture onto each piece of dough!. Fold phyllo into triangles around the mixture!. Brush with butter!.
Place filled phyllo dough triangles on a large baking sheet!. Bake in the preheated oven 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until golden brown!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
