Something really dry like a Sauvignon Blanc!. There are a few really good New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs under $10 that are aged in steel drums rather oak barrels!. They are less oakey which I personally prefer for cooking!.

A cheap Chardonnay works well too!. The Charles Shaw (also known as Two Buck Chuck) is a good cooking wine that's about $3 at Trader Joe's!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

OK, this is purely my opinion on cooking with wine!. Cheaper whites are just fine for cooking!. (But yes, not that stuff bottled as cooking wine!.) If I paid for a bottle of Markham sauvignon blanc, I'm not using 1 cup of it in the risotto! I like getting those little bottles of wine, the 4 packs to use as my cooking wine!. It's about $5 for the 4 little bottles, and that way you don't waste the rest of an $8 bottle when you only need 1 cup or so!. Anyway, I recommend a sauvignon blanc, pinot grigio/gris!. I've been using Bella Sera!. They're lighter than chardonnays!. I won't use chardonnay since they started the barrel oaking 10+ years ago!. What used to be a crisp chardonnay turned into a very buttery wine that overwhelms a dish!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The rule is to use wine you wouldn't mind drinking!. However, this does not mean you have to spend as much as you would on the wine you pour in glasses!. It basically means, use DRINKING wine, not the cooking wine they sell with vinegars!.

The best white wine in most recipes is Barefoot Chardonnay or Yellow Tail Chardonnay!. Both are $5-$6 dollars a bottle at Walmart or the grocery store!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use a wine that you would like to drink!. If you like the taste of it by itself, you'll like it in your recipes too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I love using a simple Pinot Grigio when a recipe calls for white wine!.!.!.it's subtle, and won't over power your food!. You can usually find one very affordable!.!.!.under 6 dollars!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If it tastes good when you drink it, it will be good in a recipe!.!.!.my favorite to use is Bully Hill Niagara!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
