Question: Any suggestions on cooking with apples!?
Apples on their own are fairly boring, but go nicely in pies!.!.!.!.

I was doing some experimnts with apples, and found that frying slices of apples in a pan makes a tasty treat!.!.!.!.

Supreme Apple Butter --



INGREDIENTS
1 (12 fluid ounce) can frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed
1/2 cup apple cider
4 pounds Macintosh apples - peeled, cored and chopped
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
1 cup apple brandy
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves



DIRECTIONS
In a large saucepan, bring apple juice concentrate, apple cider, and Macintosh apples to a boil!. Reduce heat to low!. Stirring occasionally, simmer uncovered about 1 hour, until apples are easily mashed!.
Mix dark brown sugar, apple brandy, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves into the apple mixture!. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer uncovered 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until thickened!. Transfer to sealed sterile containers, and cool at least 1 hour before serving!.

Cranberry Relish --



INGREDIENTS
4 large oranges, peeled and seeded
2 pounds cranberries
4 apples, cored and diced with peel
4 cups white sugar



DIRECTIONS
Take the yellow peel from oranges; trim off and discard white part!. Put orange pulp and yellow peel, cranberries, and apples through food chopper!. Add sugar and mix well!.
Cover and refrigerate!. Or pour into glass jars, leaving 1/2 inch head space!. Seal and freeze!.

Dried Apple Stack Cake --



INGREDIENTS
1 (18!.25 ounce) package spice cake mix
1 cup dried apples
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup shredded or flaked coconut
1/3 cup currants
3 eggs
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup butter
2 cups apple butter



DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)!. Lightly grease bottoms of two 9 inch round layer cake pans!.
In a large bowl, mix the spice cake mix, dried apples, pecans, coconut, currants, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla extract and butter!. Pour the mixture into the cake pans!.
Bake in the preheated oven 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean!. Cool on a wire rack!.
Split each cake layer into four sections!. Spread apple butter between the sections and reassemble layers!.

I have never making this, but this is the first I have heard of this!.
APPLE LOAF
2 c!. biscuit mix
3/4 c!. sugar
1 egg
3 tbsp!. vegetable oil
3/4 c!. milk
1 c!. finely chopped pared apples

Combine biscuit mix and sugar!. In a large bowl, combine egg, oil, and milk!. Stir in biscuit and sugar mixture!. Beat 30-45 seconds!. Fold in apples!. Turn onto greased 9x5x3 inch pan!. Bake in preheated hot 400 degree oven for 35-40 minutes or until done!. Serve warm!. Makes 6 servings!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

simple apple crisp - 1cup of flour, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon!. mix together!. Add in 1 stick of butter to make a crumbly mixture(can use a pulse food processor for this or a dough Mixer)!.
Slice 6 large apples or 8 medium!. Pre coat a 9x13 pan!. Place the apples in the pan!. Add 1/4 cup water if the apples are dry(like a Gala or granny smith)!. Top all of the apples with the crumble mixture!. Bake at 350 for 50 Minutes!.
Alternatives use Oatmeal for the top like a crumble!.

2!. Make a normal Yellow or white Cake Mix!.
In a 9x9 pan slice your apples and place them in the bottom of the pan!. Cover with the cake mix!. Bake using the instructions on the box and add 10 minutes additional!.
Your result is Apple Upside down Cake!.
3!. Oatmeal with chopped fresh apples and cinnamon!.
4!. Apple pancakes - chop them small so they cook quicker!.
5!. Apple Waffles!. Add cinnamon to the dry ingredients!.

Apple Cake

4 cups diced apples
2 cups sugar
1 cup raisins
2 tsp salt, divided

1 cup oil
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup walnuts

2 cups flour
2 ? cups apple juice
2 t baking soda
2 t cinnamon

? Mix apples, sugar, raisins, 1 tsp salt!. Let stand 1 hour
? Add oil, eggs and walnuts!.
? Sift in flour, juice, baking soda, cinnamon and 1 tsp salt!.
? Pour into greased 13” x 9” baking dish, 350 degrees for 1 hr and 15 minutes!.
? Let cool 15 minutes before serving!.

Country Apple Cobbler

1/3 cups sugar, divided
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons quick-cooking tapioca
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
6 cups thinly sliced peeled tart apples
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
whipped topping

In a large saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar, water, tapioca and cinnamon!. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally!. Remove from the heat; stir in the apples until coated!. Pour into a greased 8-in!. baking dish; set aside!.
In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt and remaining sugar!. Stir in butter and milk just until moistened!. Fold in cheese and walnuts!. Sprinkle over apple mixture!. Bake at 375 degrees F for 30-35 minutes or until filling is bubbly!. Serve with whipped topping if desired!.

Apple Pork Chops

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
4 (1/2-inch thick) pork chops
1/2 teaspoon salt
ground black pepper to taste
2 apples - peeled, cored and sliced
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
3/4 cup hot water

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C)!.
Heat oil in large skillet!. Saute onion in oil for 1 minute, or until tender!. Remove onion and set aside!. Brown pork chops on both sides in oil!.
Place chops in an 8x12 inch baking dish and sprinkle them with salt and pepper!. Cover the chops with the apples and cooked onion!.
In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, mustard, cloves and water!. Pour over chops!. Cover and bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 45 minutes!. Enjoy!

Baked Apples

6 tart apples (green works best), peeled, halved, cored

8 x 10 baking dish

1/4 cup brown sugar

margarine

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F!.

In baking dish, lay the apples cored side up (I lay them two by two!.) Place a spoonful of the brown sugar inside the holes where the cores were!. Dot each with a teaspoon of margarine!. Pour 1 cup of water into the dish, making sure not to wash off the sugar or margarine!.

Place in oven and bake for about 40 minutes or until fork pierces apple easily!.

Serve with your main meal (I usually serve this with some sort of pork dinner!.)

You could always make something like an Apple Crisp/Crumble, those are good!.

Or my favorite, you could use an apple in salsa!. It gives the salsa a nice crisp mouth-feel but doesn't make it taste like an apple salsa, just dice it up and add it in with tomatos, onion, and all the salsa stuff!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Saute in a pan with some butter, brown sugar, and chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)!. Serve on top of pancakes or inside crepes for a delicious breakfast!.
